The Kindle Unlimited KENP payment rate for November 2017 again showed a slight rise to $0.0046 from $0.0045 in October as the KDP Select Global Fund hit another new high of $19.8 million. The UK KENP rate was £0.0035, the same level as in October.
The result takes the total paid out to authors by Kindle Unlimited to over $200 million ($203.4 million) in the calendar year so far (Jan-Nov 2017). December could see the KDP Select Fund hit £$20 million, which would mean a total for the year of around $223 million and a rise of 19% on 2016’s total paid out of $186 million.
That would also see the amount paid out since Kindle Unlimited began midway in July 2014 to well over half a billion dollars.
The annual total figures for KU since it started are:
2014: $31.735 million (Jul-Dec)
2015: $131.6 million
2016: 186 million
Those three years bring a total of $349.335 million and adding the $203.4 million for 2017 so far takes it to around $552 million.
For November 2017, using my usual back-of-the-envelope calculation of dividing the total KDP Select fund ($19.8 million) by the US KENP rate ($0.0046) to get an idea of the total number of KENPs read results in around 4.3 billion KENPs.
That’s down from 4.37 billion KENPs read during October, 4.43 billion KENPs in September, 4.73 billion in August and 4.75 billion in July. Figures for previous months were 4.28 billion in June, 4.16 billion in May and 3.95 billion for April.
