Nook’s $49.95 tablet is withdrawn from sale after power problems

Barnes & Noble has hit another snag with its recently launched $49.95 Nook tablet.

This time, the problem is reckoned to be with the charging adapter which is said to have shown signs of breaking when being plugged in to a power supply.

It follows an earlier incident when it was reported that the tablet, which uses the Android operating system, was running malware.

The 7-inch tablet is now listed on the Barnes & Noble website as ‘not available’.

Amazon also suffered problems with the charging adapter on its own Kindle Fire tablets it offered to replace UK power adapters last year due to ‘rare’ malfunctions.
