Amazon Publishing’s Thomas & Mercer imprint has picked up two new titles from Teresa Driscoll, the writer of the smash-hit psychological thriller I Am Watching You.
Former BBC journalist Driscoll has topped the best-seller lists internationally with I Am Watching You, which is currently No 9 on the Amazon.com chart of Most Read Fiction and has been on the list for 12 weeks. The book has sold over 200,000 copies so far.
Driscoll has followed the increasingly familiar journey of moving from writing women’s fiction which had moderate success to bringing in stunning sales with a move to the psychological suspense genre.
It’s a path taken by Paula Hawkins, who wrote romantic fiction, before The Girl On The Train rocketed her to stardom.
Sarah A Denzil also wrote Young Adult novels before moving into psych suspense with Silent Child, which has been a massive self-publishing success.
Driscoll has a new book coming out soon, which is, of course, a psychological thriller — The Friend — about what happens when you put your trust, and the safety of your child, in the wrong person.
Thomas & Mercer, which is probably Amazon’s most successful imprint, is publishing the title in March.
The first of the two new titles under the contract, The Promise, is centred on “three friends bound by a dark secret” and will be released in February 2019. A second title will follow later the same year.
Thomas & Mercer editor Jack Butler says, ‘We couldn’t be happier to sign two more books from Teresa. She’s an immensely talented thriller writer. I Am Watching You took the charts by storm on publication last October.
‘The Promise is another skilfully plotted tale, focusing on three friends bound by a dark secret and a joint promise to bury the truth.
‘Teresa is such an exciting new voice in the psychological thriller genre. Her rapidly growing fan base are going to love these new stories.’
Teresa Driscoll says,’The reaction to my debut thriller I Am Watching You has been nothing short of extraordinary. I’m so grateful to readers and can’t wait to share The Friend with them next. To now sign two more books is wonderful. I love working with Jack and the team at Thomas & Mercer.’
