Scrivener has just got a major upgrade for the Mac and a new Windows version is also on the way.
Scrivener 3 for the Mac operating system is now available and features a modernised interface and a range of new features, including the capability to export ePub 3 and improved Kindle export with fully customisable CSS.
Literature and Latte, the company behind Scrivener, say some of the improvements include:
- A fresh and modern User Interface.
- A true styles system, making it easier to format headings, block quotes and more — all fully integrated with Compile.
- Compile has been redesigned to be easier for novices while providing even more power for those want to dig deep.
- ePub 3 and improved Kindle export, with fully customisable CSS for beautiful ebooks.
- View more documents at the same time, and even navigate your writing on one side of the UI and your research on the other.
- Writing statistics to keep track of how much you write every day.
- Track threads on the corkboard using the new ‘Arrange by Label’ mode.
- Create custom pop-up lists, checkboxes and date fields using the improved Custom Metadata feature.
If you already have Scrivener 2 for the Mac, then version 3 is a paid upgrade at the discount price of $25. For new users the program costs $45.
There is a 30-day free trial available which actually works for 30 days of use rather than a 30-day calendar period, so you could, for example, use it for 10 weeks if you only use the program three times a week. It’s a new trial so if you tried out Scrivener 2 previously that usage doesn’t count.
The new Windows version of Scrivener will be a free upgrade for existing users and Literature and Latte says it will be available during 2018.
