Countdown to self-publishing for Christmas

Many of the ebook retailers and distributors will be shutting over the Christmas and New Year period, so self-published authors need to act fast to publish before the holiday shutdown.

Ebook distributor Draft2digital will be closed over Christmas from Thursday, December 24 to Sunday, December 27 and on January 1 for New Year’s Day.

D2D says Apple’s publishing systems will have additional delays from Monday, December 22 right through to Friday, January 8.

Book submissions and metadata changes supplied to Barnes & Noble’s Nook store from D2D are processed the next business day. B&N will be closed throughout the week of December 21, opening again on Monday, December 28.

Kobo’s publishing system will be shut down from December 22 to December 29.

Scribd and Tolino will both continue publishing changes but both firms have limited support over the break, with Scribd support closed from December 24 to January 2, and limited support at Tolino from December 21 to January 3.

Amazon, of course, doesn’t seem to take a break for any of the holidays but even the Kindle store must experience some delays at the busiest times.
