The March 2017 KENP payout is slightly down on the $0.0047 paid out in the same month in 2016 but represents a steady year-on-year trend which can now be compared like with like as Amazon brought in its KENP v2.0 system in February 2016 which recalculated how many words make up a KENP (Kindle Edition Normalized Page).

Dividing the March 2017 fund of $17.7 million by the US KENP rate of $0.0046 results in 3.84 billion, which should represent a ballpark figure of the total KENPs read during the month. That is a big rise from 2.91 billion in February 2017 and is a return to around the level of 3.78 billion KENPs read in January 2017.
