If you’re planning an ebook launch for Thanksgiving, you should take into account that some distributors and most of the ebook retailers will be closing for a long weekend over the holiday period.
Ebook distributor Draft2digital points out that Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26 and the D2D offices will close at 5pm Central on Wednesday, November 25 and reopen again at 8am CST on Monday, November 30.
Most of the ebook retailers it works with will operate on a similar schedule.
Authors who use D2D and need to publish any new books or make changes to existing books should send their files to D2D no later than close of business Tuesday, November 24, although Monday, November 23 would be better.
D2D says this should give it time to verify the files and pass them on to the stores with enough leeway for them to publish everything before the holiday.
If you’re publishing direct with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing then there shouldn’t be problems as KDP doesn’t close but you’d still be well advised to publish early if you can.
