The discount war between Amazon and Hachette isn’t hitting Amazon’s public image as new international surveys by YouGov show consumers’ perception of Amazon is staying strong across the majaor markets of the US, UK and Germany.
Last year, YouGov’s BrandIndex rated Amazon as the best perceived brand in the US, ahead of Ford, Subway, The History Channel, and Lowe’s.
The battle with Hachette, which has been going on just long enough now to be almost called long running, has seen Amazon coming in for considerable criticism, mainly from traditionally published authors, but You Gov’s Brand Index Buzz scores have barely shifted.
The scores measure Buzz (“If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?”) and Word of Mouth (“Have you spoken about the brand in the past two weeks – in person, online or through social media”).
