Universal linking services join forces in GeoRiot deal for BookLinker

Global link service GeoRiot has acquired BookLinker, which provides affiliate link management to authors and publishers promoting books on Amazon.

Both companies offer an invaluable service for indie authors by providing a single URL link for your books that can be used to send potential customers to the correct geographic Amazon store.

I’m often surprised that so many indie authors still have links to their books using only their Amazon.com link, missing out on worldwide business from, for example, the UK and German Kindle stores. It’s simple (and free) to use the linking service to get one URL that will redirect a customer to the appropriate Kindle store for their location.

“We have watched BookLinker grow and do amazing things in the Amazon book space,” said Jesse Lakes, CEO, GeoRiot. “Both GeoRiot and BookLinker have a very similar goal, so it makes perfect sense for us to team up. We’re hoping to improve some things with BookLinker using existing GeoRiot technology as well as learn a few things from their streamlined workflow to make GeoRiot better. Stay tuned for those improvements in the coming months.”

BookLinker, which was originally Viewbook, and GeoRiot will continue to run separately, as each service is built for a specific audience, but BookLinker will now use GeoRiot’s patented link translation service to improve how clicks are handled from international visitors.

BookLinker was created for independent authors, small book publishers, and bloggers marketing books to a global audience via branded short URLs and basic reporting.

BookLinker will remain free, and GeoRiot has no plans to change that in the future.

GeoRiot fills more ‘advanced’ needs and is geared towards online marketers who promote products (including books), across multiple online stores and need a powerful tool to help them. The service offers deeper reporting options and advanced targeting to send consumers to different stores with the same link, determined by their location and type of device being used.

GeoRiot is best for users such as affiliate marketers, record labels, book publishers, commerce sites, and power users who want more control over their links and deeper insights into their clicks.

BookLinker is a great tool for independent authors, or bloggers promoting books and authors on Amazon to international readers. The tool is perfect for users who don’t need extra features, and prefer a branded short URL that works across Amazon’s global network of stores and basic reporting.

GeoRiot provides industry-leading affiliate linking capabilities to app developers, music labels and online marketers. With a single, unified link, global traffic (Amazon, iTunes, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store) is directed to the appropriate, geo-specific item in a user’s local storefront to improve international user experience and increase conversions.

The GeoRiot service also allows clients to leverage the many country-specific affiliate programs simultaneously to often double their revenue from international affiliate commission.
