PublishDrive adds audiobook streaming service Storytel to its channels

Ebook distributor PublishDrive has added audiobook and ebook streaming service Storytel to its list of channels.

Storytel is based in Northern Europe and has proved to be a success, with around 1.1 million subscribers and offering more than 400,000 books.

The company was set up in 2005 and now covers 20 markets — Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, India, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.

There’s a 14-day free trial for the subscription service and then a choice of subscription levels. The cost varies according to the country but, for example, in the Netherlands a single unlimited account costs €11.99 a month, family level with two accounts is €14.99, and family+ is 19.99 for three accounts. The subscription covers unlimited ebooks and audiobooks.

For authors, Storytel operates on a pooled subscription basis so you get paid according to how much your work has been streamed.

If you are a PublishDrive customer and want to distribute your audiobooks and ebook to Storytel you don’t have to do anything as they will be included by default by April 7 at the latest. If you want to opt out of the Storytel channel you should do so before April 7. You can do this on the PublishDrive dashboard and accessing ‘Book pages’, ‘Imprint’, or ‘Stores’.

PublishDrive has a range of options available for authors and offers 100% of net royalties for a monthly subscription fee.

The range covers free for one title, Standard at $19.99 a month for up to six titles, Plus for $49.99 a month and a maximum of 24 titles, and Pro at $99.99 a month for up to 48 titles.

You can publish ebooks, audiobooks and print books through PublishDrive.
