Indie author leads the list of Amazon ebook best-sellers over the year

A self-published author tops the list of the best-selling ebooks on Amazon.co.uk over the year so far in a Top 10 dominated by digital-first publishers.

Sarah Denzil’s psychological thriller Silent Child takes the No 1 spot in the ebook section of Amazon’s Summer 2017 Trends Report which covers sales since the start of 2017.

Sarah Denzil was previously published by Kindle Press after her novel Saving April was selected on Amazon’s reader-powered publishing scheme Kindle Scout and sold very well.

She then decided to self-publish to keep control of pricing and has had an even bigger best-seller with Silent Child which has hit the top spot in Kindle markets around the world.

She says, “The success of Silent Child has been wonderfully overwhelming and I’m so thankful to the readers. They are the ones who have given my books a chance, and they are the ones who have shown their support, whether it’s with a review, an email, or a tweet.

“Word of mouth recommendations are the main reason for Silent Child being so successful and it has been incredible to watch. Independent publishing gives the power to the reader and allows the story to speak for itself.”

The rest of the Top 10 best-selling ebooks on Amazon.co.uk, which are all novels, include three titles from Bookouture, the previously independent ebook publisher which was taken over by Hachette in March this year, a book from Swedish publisher Bonnier’s digital-first imprint twenty7, and a book from Harper Impulse — Harper Collins’ digital-first romance imprint.
